Since the launch of China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy, Guizhou Province has emerged as an increasingly popular destination for international travelers. Data show that the number of South Korean visitors entering Guizhou through Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has surged 268.42 percent compared with the period before the policy took effect. Guiyang, Qianxinan, Qiandongnan, Zunyi and Anshun have become the top 5 destinations for Korean tourists in the province.
地处中国西南腹地的贵州，何以在这一轮入境游热潮中脱颖而出？
So how has Guizhou, tucked away in southwest China, stood out amid the latest inbound tourism boom?
近日，多家韩媒记者组团“打卡”贵州。
带着疑问，一群来自韩国的媒体人于春节前夕深入贵州寻找答案。走进中国阳明文化园，感悟阳明心学；登上花江峡谷大桥，近距离感受世界第一高桥的雄伟气势；置身万峰林花海，体验喀斯特峰林的春日浪漫；探访茅台镇，解锁传承千年的酿造工艺；漫步新印厂，观察文旅消费“新三样”的兴起……从古到今，从山到城，从技术到消费，这群记者看到了一个立体而鲜活的贵州。
Seeking answers, a group of Korean journalists traveled to Guizhou ahead of the Spring Festival. Their journey took them from the Wang Yangming Memorial, where they explored the philosophy of Wang Yangming, to the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world’s highest bridge. They wandered through the karst peaks of Wanfenglin in full spring bloom, visited Maotai Town to learn about centuries-old baijiu craftsmanship, and stopped by Guiyang’s Xin Yin 1950 Discovery to observe the city’s emerging consumer trends. From ancient philosophy to modern engineering, from mountain landscapes to urban culture, from infrastructure to lifestyle consumption, the journalists encountered a dynamic and multidimensional Guizhou.
“我们此次报道，主要聚焦贵州基建技术崛起背后的故事、白酒产业的时代变迁，以及文旅消费‘新三样’所折射的城市活力。”韩国联合有线新闻台（YTN）北京支局长、特派记者姜正奎说。
“Our coverage focuses on the story behind Guizhou’s rise in infrastructure technology, the evolution of the baijiu industry, and the urban vitality reflected in emerging consumer trends,” said Kang Jung Kyu, Beijing Bureau Chief and correspondent for YTN.

驻华多年，姜正奎一直想来贵州看看。“茅台镇是白酒的故乡，茅台酒也是中国最具代表性的白酒之一。我很好奇，自己喝到的白酒究竟是如何酿造的。”姜正奎表示，亲眼看到酿造过程十分有趣。
Having been stationed in China for years, Kang had long wanted to visit Guizhou.“Maotai Town is the hometown of baijiu, and Moutai is one of China’s most representative liquors. I’ve always been curious about how the liquor I drink is actually produced,”he said, adding that witnessing the brewing process firsthand was fascinating.

沿途走访中，姜正奎注意到一个细节——不少景区标识设有韩文说明。出于职业敏感，他随即查阅资料，发现自2024年11月中国对持普通护照的韩国公民试行免签入境政策以来，韩国游客赴黔数量显著增长。
During the trip, Kang noticed a detail that caught his professional attention: many scenic spots featured Korean-language signage. After looking into the data, he found that since China began trial visa-free entry for ordinary South Korean passport holders in November 2024, the number of Korean tourists visiting Guizhou has risen sharply.
经过几日的实地探访，姜正奎对于这一变化并不意外。
After several days of field reporting, the surge came as no surprise to Kang.
多年来，张家界凭借石英砂岩峰林景观，稳居韩国游客赴华首选目的地。姜正奎认为，贵州拥有数量庞大的群山和独特的喀斯特地貌景观，壮阔程度毫不逊色。“或许对于韩国人来说，贵州如同‘第二个张家界’，但更具新鲜感，选择也更多样。”姜正奎分析，韩国人普遍热爱登山和户外运动。对于这类人群来说，贵州丰富的山地资源和良好的生态环境极具吸引力。
For years, Zhangjiajie has ranked as the top destination for Korean tourists visiting China, thanks to its iconic quartz sandstone peaks. In Kang’s view, Guizhou’s vast mountain ranges and dramatic karst landscapes are no less spectacular.“For some Koreans, Guizhou might initially be seen as another Zhangjiajie,” he said.“But it feels fresher, and there’s a wider variety of experiences.” He noted that hiking and outdoor activities are deeply rooted in Korean culture. For those passionate about trekking, trail running and mountain sports, Guizhou’s abundant terrain and well-preserved ecological environment hold strong appeal.

Known as the Glamorous Province with Highland Parks, Guizhou is 92.5 percent mountainous or hilly, with forest coverage exceeding 63 percent. Its landscapes are shaped by extensive karst formations, including canyons, peak forests, caves and sinkholes. Natural conditions that make it ideal for outdoor pursuits.
近年来，贵州持续举办国际山地旅游暨户外运动大会、山地自行车赛、马拉松赛、越野跑等赛事活动，吸引来自世界各地的运动员和爱好者参与。山地资源正加速转化为旅游和体育产业发展的新动能，贵州也正从“被比较的目的地”，逐渐成为境外游客心中的“新晋爬山圣地”。
In recent years, the province has hosted International Conferences of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports, mountain bike races, marathons and trail running events, drawing athletes and enthusiasts from around the world. Its mountainous resources are increasingly being transformed into new drivers of tourism and sports development. Guizhou is gradually shifting from a destination measured against others to a rising hiking haven in its own right.

“通过我们的报道，更多韩国民众会了解贵州。”姜正奎相信，媒体的持续关注将为两地交流注入更多活力。
“Through our reporting, more Koreans will come to know Guizhou,” Kang said, expressing confidence that continued media engagement will help deepen exchanges between the two sides.
“如今国际形势大有不同。”临别时，姜正奎说，“今日的中韩关系，一定比昨天更好！”
“The international landscape today is very different from before,” he added before departing.“I believe China–South Korearelations today will be better than yesterday.”
